On the eve of the start of the new academic year, the question of school uniforms is being updated.On the eve of the start of the new academic year, the question of school uniforms is being updated. Before the pandemic, wearing it was mandatory. But last year, taking all the circumstances into account, we made a decision that allowed students to come to school not only in school uniforms, but also in classic-style clothes throughout the school year. Will uniforms be compulsory in the coming school year? I myself, both as a parent and as the Minister of Education and Science, are a supporter of wearing a school uniform. Educators point out that, among other things, she also disciplines children, makes them feel like they are in the same school, and, importantly, helps to reduce social differences between students. After listening to the opinions of parents, teachers, school administrators and heads of education departments, I concluded that many also advocate school uniforms. But, having weighed all the pros and cons, we decided that for those who, due to various circumstances, cannot acquire school uniforms for children, make it unnecessary to wear it for another year. Children can temporarily, during only the next academic year, attend school not only in school uniforms, but also in classic-style clothes. I know that the manufacturers of school uniforms have a different opinion on this matter. In this regard, I expect to hear disagreement from both some parents and manufacturers of school uniforms. Let me explain what we were guided by when making this decision. Firstly, taking into account the epidemiological situation, now in many regions of the country there are quarantine restrictions, shops are open at certain times, in some cities - only on weekdays. And we understand that if parents go en masse to shopping malls and stores in order to purchase school uniforms for their children, this can provoke queues and risks of Covid-19 infection. Secondly, due to temporary economic difficulties, in some families, the purchase of a school uniform can become an additional burden on the family budget. Therefore, if the parents, due to various circumstances, cannot purchase a school uniform for their child, then temporarily, during only the next academic year, the school can be attended in classical style clothes. In conclusion, I would like to note: I understand that regardless of the decision made regarding the school uniform, opinions on this issue will differ. Whatever decision is made, the supporters of the school uniform will give some arguments, opponents - others. But in this matter, it was important for us to objectively assess the current situation and foresee possible risks. |

So, the following dates for the beginning, duration and vacation periods of the 2021 - 2022 academic year in secondary education organizations have been determined, regardless of the form of ownership and departmental subordination: the beginning of the 2021 - 2022 academic year - September 1, 2021; the duration of the academic year in grades 1 - 33 academic weeks, in grades 2-11 (12) - 34 academic weeks; vacation periods during the academic year: in grades 1-11 (12): autumn - 7 days (from November 1 to 7, 2021 inclusive), winter - 11 days (from December 30, 2021 to January 9, 2022 inclusive), spring - 12 days (from 19 to March 30, 2022 inclusive); in grade 1: additional holidays - 7 days (from 7 to 13 February 2022 inclusive). The order comes into force on August 9, 2021. |
